Using Aperture

This was part of a photo assignment from a flickr group I administer, Saturday Shutterbugs. The assignment was to take the same photo with the aperture wide open and again with it stopped all the way down.  This was to help recognize and appreciate the different effects of changing the aperture and what is appropriate for the story you are trying to tell with your image.

Plant by Candlelight

Experimenting with night time lighting and long exposures, I used a luminary candle with a 4 second exposure to light this plant on my patio.

I’m in love with this marquee at the Plaza Theatre in Garland. This was the first time I’ve attempted night shots of it. Now I love it even more!

Hoover Dam Bridge Construction

It will be interesting to how the bridge effects the view. The construction rigs certainly aren’t doing it any favors!

This lomo-maker is pretty cool. I liked the original shot, but this one is downright groovy.

Closing Night at the Carnival

I entered my first art show in Dallas, the On My Own Time show at work, with this photo and one other.

This was taken at a local carnival that was setup during Memorial Day weekend. The “carnies” weren’t too happy with me and my cameras, and they ran me off shortly after this was taken.
